So after deciding that I really hated the staff I did on Lar, the alternate rider for the palanqui I have recreated it and am much happier with it
Much better me thinks

Davok the Tainted
So I got a little side tracked from painting this bank holiday weekend and got all sculpty and ploughed into Davok......and even started an alternate sorcerer rider should the need take me to have another sorcerer who I have named Lars the Withered Watchman of Nurgle

Davok the Tainted
So after my musing about my battle standard bearer and the fact 5 more points would gain me +1 wound and +4 attacks on top of what Kazyk on the Daemonic mount would give me. Kazyk is well and truely relagated to just a hero/lord with some sexy bling.....time to get a unit of knights me thinks :D
I now have an excuse to be creative and make something unique.
Idea for Davok The Tainted
I made a quick mock up last night for the bearers so far I am using 1.5 of the blocks of plastic nurglings as the bearers, although I noticed Rafal Maj over at Bloodybeast.com has done a palanquin but by surrounding the palanquin with the bearers and I sort of liked the idea.
I was toying with this originally balsa wood float and throne with GS/putty over the top. A flayed skin and chain skirting that will cover the top parts of the nurgling piles so i dont have to go to the extent of sculpting new nurglings whilst giving the impression of the horde of little fat people scurrying below.
Davok himself will be made from the plastic nurgle lord sat down, hand resting on a shield that will be leaning against the throne. The other hand holding a nice axe OR the battle standard if I choose not to put it tacked on the rear of the throne, not decided on whether or not I will.
The standard itself will be sculpted basing it off the Banelegions Minotaur Banner, stitched skin
Luvly Jubbly

Pleasure and Pain
Woke up this moring feeling genuinely happy about life in general not sure why
Stretched and yawned, then suddenly felt like someone had stabbed me; not really a feeling I was wanting to experience again.
Pulled a muscle in my back I reckon, and now can't breathe properly and the pain flows forth!
Just in time for the Bank Holiday Weekend........BASTARDS!!!!!

Warriors of Chaos - Daemon Prince - Rothgar the Ravager
Started working on the "loincloth", if that's what the hell it is, as well as a few other details before I start to work a little more on the skin
Think he is starting to look the biz!
In other news.....I releasise for 5 more points I could have put the Battle Standard Bearer on a Palanquin :/ so seems I have two choices I either cut off the banner on Kazyk and just use him as a hero or I just leave it there and refer to it as a "trophy rack"
Night all

Warriors of Chaos - Daemon Prince - Rothgar the Ravager
Work has begun and flown along on the Daemon Prince
I liad down the initial gradients on the skin using an airbrush using zenithal highlighting. I then have started to glaze in different colours to give some variation. I still needto work some cold shadows in on the lower part of the model to add a little contrast.
Face only a mother could love...........
Be safe

Warriors of Chaos - Daemon Prince - Rothgar the Ravager
Whilst I have been working on Kazyk the Befouled I have also been working on the conversion of the Forgeworld Nurgle Daemon Prince, that is very 40k orientated, into a more fantasy style model
Tomorrow i will devote to finishing the Battle Standard Bearer and then I will crack on with this corpulent so and so on Sunday. Think I might even go as far as to use the airbrush to lay down the base gradient on the skin before I start giving it the nurgle treatment.
All in all I think it is a fairly effective conversion.

Warriors of Chaos - Battle Standard Bearer - Kazyk the Befouled
Didn't have a great deal of time for painting last night due to a bitch of a migrane, mind you had I not had the migrane not hit I would have been out have a curry with some mates.....if life gives you lemons make lemonade :D
Tonight was a much more productive evening, well on the way now and am really liking where this model is heading I think it will be a great centre peice for the nurgle part of the Warriors
Have a good one

Egolessness and Competition Painting....The Opposing Forces
I have long been analysing why I enter painting competitions, as a buddhist I strive towards egolessness and the very act of entering these painting competitions and painting something specifically for it breeds ego in my mind, ego is the cause of all suffering.
I paint for relaxation and enjoyment almost in a zen like state of calm and clarity, therefore the act of painting purely for the purpose of entering a painting competition is counter productive to my wellbeing as it breeds ego and stress. I do not wish to imply that competition painters are all ego driven arseholes because they really are not for the most part they are great people, but their attitude does however change the closer they get to GD etc etc, and I guess I am no different.
I have decided that I am not competitive painting any longer for the sake of competitive painting, this won't stop me from painting display stuff for my own enjoyment and relaxation and maybe taking something to the odd Games Day that I have done "just because" but I am no longer being dragged into the mire of "I must paint this for GD!!!" and neglect other projects and enjoyments.
One of the biggest positives is I will now be able to start clearing my backlog of unpainted miniatures; particularly my chaos stuff, and getting back to painting purely for the joy of painting.

Warriors of Chaos - Battle Standard Bearer - Kazyk the Befouled
Had this model in my "Shit to do" pile for so long now, had the standard left over from Tamurkhan and I required a battle standard bearer so one and one made two......
At first this model is rather daunting but once you get your teeth into it its not all that scarey to be honest, it's just the initial trying to work out what everything actually is :D
Not sure why but I love painting nurgle........

The Blitzkreig Bop - Armageddon Steel Legion 8th Heavy Company
Tonight's painting has resulted in the duck egg green part of the camo being done, now it is time for the details!
I have learnt one thing though....don't glue on the lascannon sponsons before you paint, makes life a pain in the arse to get the camo pattern to match up :D
