Knights of the Legio

Originally tried to get my Thousand Sons army finished for a game against Dan Harden of White Dwarf, I failed...........

So a substitute army was required with three weeks to go before I travelled to Warhammer World......

What do I have that Dan has not seen and I have unfinished (some of which have been for almost 2 years now) that I can use the game as motivation to paint......

hmmmm......

Knights......

Porphyrion
Crusader
Castellan
2 Warglaives
2 Helverins

Some work in progress bits and bobs........

Luckily I don't mind painting freehand Legio Symbols................

fast forward 3 weeks to 3:20am on the night before I travel to Nottingham.....FINISHED!!!!

I have some videos of the models but can I upload a decent copy....can I fuck

So you will have to trust me when I say I finished the lot, added them to my other 6 existing knights, and then made it to WHW to play the game :)

As fate would have it the Open War cards we drew allowed us to fight over the bridge and much fun was had including a rather stunning chain reaction of explosions that left a stompa, 2 knights, and half the Ork infantry dead.

The Emperor's Guard

Space Wolves pushed to one side as there was no way I was going to get them all done in time for the beginning on September without rushing them and as I am enjoying them too much that was not an option.  So reverted to my Imperial knights and trying to get them finished instead.  Far easier ask.....

Over the last week I have been working on Ixion (the Acheron) and Iapetus (the Lancer) and guess what........subject to the bases being painted they are both done and I have a substantial little force of knights to rock it at Throne of Skulls, will most likely take some of my other gear with so I can alter my list if knights are boring having never actually used them :D

First up Iapetus, the electrical effect on this guy's gear is far superior to Gungnir's Wrath

Then we have Ixion named after the man sentenced to spend eternity on a flaming wheel by Zeus

And then a group shot

We are the defenders of the sacred fruit bowl, none may have fruit in this house!

Flamey Jeff The Robot of Death

So in order to get over the 5 losses to varying forms of space hairdresser at Throne of Skulls at the weekend I decided to treat myself..........To another knight, because like pokemon got to catch them all or some shit

Name wise I am leaning towards "Ixion" at the moment.

The Running Man

Before I can tackle other things I need to get the knights finished.  So I have jumped straight into the next lancer.  Iapetus.  The name was chosen because the name Iapetus was the name of one of the titans from Greek mythology it also loosely means "The Piercer" and derives from the Greek word to wound or pierce iapto (ιαπτω) so to me it seemed rather fitting.

The cast on this was less than perfect so I spent most of the weekend fixing miscasts.  Usually I would just send them back to FW and ask for replacement as they are nothing but exceptional when it comes to things like that.  However due to the time passed since I purchased the lancers on release and the fact it is xmas I may have been waiting for a while so I just got on with it myself.

This lancer will probably be the most challenging knight to photograph because of the stance it looks a lot like it is falling when photographed however it is not. It gives me personally the impression of it lunging forwards parrying incoming blows seconds before delivering a counterstrike of course I may have rose tinted glasses on here.

So pictures of the tacced lancer and the WIP base

I have also added to the base although disassembled the lancer for painting so here is the base on its' own, the large area of cork will be tarmac and I want to stencil on some markings to fill in the space
